Event ushers/hostesses are very important in a reception/event. Most people usually think they are just there to watch the event, act as a decorated statue to the event... (*smiles *).
No... They are actually there to coordinate and help the event Planner while the event is going on.
The first thing on your reception agenda is to place at least two wedding ushers at the reception of the event before the guests arrive. A reception usher can be male or female.
Their job is to greet guests and collect gifts on arrival.
The event Head Coordinator works with the wedding usher/s directing the guests to their seats and crossing off their names as they arrive.
In some cases, a second usher collects any gifts on arrival or (placing the money envelopes in a decorative box) and pinning a small boutonniere on the guests clothing (optional).
Reception Ushers in an average event of 100 guests with 10 tables should have at mist 5 Ushers. Each one coordinating 2 tables.
An usher/hostess must be neatly dressed to suit the kind of event they are coordinating. They are always to put on a smiling face.
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO TO AN EVENT USHER/HOSTESS.
1. Don not insult them. They are human being just like you and they have their integrity to protect too.
2. Do not molest them in any way.
3. Please, sit where they ask you to sit down.
4. Always smile back at them.
Love this! Well said.
